Tricia Rose Biography

 

Tricia Rose was born on October 18th, 1962 in New York City, which is located in the state of New York in the United States. Tricia Rose was born and raised in New York, so the bustling metropolis served as the setting for much of her formative years. She spent her childhood in Harlem as well as the Bronx. She attended Yale University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology degree, and Brown University, where she obtained her Doctor of Philosophy degree in American Studies.

She has taught at both New York University and the University of California at Santa Cruz. Currently, she is the director of the Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity in the United States and oversees the Africana Studies department at Brown University. She has also held the position of professor at both of these universities. On her resume, Professor Rose lists her work as a faculty member at Brown University, her membership on the boards of the Nathan Cummings Foundation and Black Girls Rock, Inc., and her role as the Lund-Gill Chair at Dominican University for the spring 2014 semester.
